About
Ka Wai is an arts practitioner and educator whose interests traverse theatre, text, and movement. His work investigates atypical embodiment and improvisation, tracing the impulses of movement and the deconstruction of form.
His works include Dance a Dance from My Body by Chou Shu-yi (co-commissioned and co-produced by Esplanade – Theatres on the Bay and the National Kaohsiung Center for the Arts Weiwuying, 2024); Body QUARTET with Liang Chun-wen (as part of 12.ance and KLDSCP.VII Work-In-Progress Sharing, 2024); Glimpse (presented by Access Path Productions and RJ Thomson as part of Light to Night Festival, 2023); Pán (presented by T.H.E Dance Company and Access Path Productions for SCCC Cultural Extravaganza 2020/2021).
Alongside his creative work, he teaches Chinese and creative writing at institutions including Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts, Nanyang Technological University and Prison School. He also collaborates with UFM100.3 on the “Script It Right” Chinese radio drama competition, an initiative of the Committee to Promote Chinese Language Learning.
